The Friends of Littleover Parks are a group of volunteers who work with the local council and other voluntary bodies to improve and maintain the parks in Littleover for the enjoyment of the local people and to increase biodiversity.
We have a work party on Sunnydale Park every first Saturday of the month, and one on or another of our parks every third Saturday of the month.
We work very closely with the local council. Because we all live locally we are able to advise the council of problems and help them to decide priorities for development and improvements to the parks.
The council and other sponsoring organisations give us modest grants to buy plants and other items to enhance the parks. Often these are provisional on us finding a contribution from the community, so we sometimes launch specific appeals, and we are always glad of donations to help us with our work.
We have a small committee who hold a general meeting at the Blagreaves Lane Social club (formerly British Legion), every couple of months to plan our activities - everyone is welcome.
